The Story
Introduced in 1980, this iconic Admiral shirt was worn by England during qualification for the 1982 FIFA World Cup and throughout the tournament in Spain.
The shirt featured Admiral's famous red and blue chest stripes, a bold departure from the simpler designs of previous decades. At the time it was considered one of the most modern and distinctive international football shirts in the world.
England progressed unbeaten through the group stages of the 1982 World Cup but were ultimately eliminated after drawing with both West Germany and hosts Spain in the second group phase. Despite not reaching the semi finals, the tournament is fondly remembered by England supporters and helped cement the shirt's legendary status.
Today it is regarded as one of the defining football shirts of the early 1980s.
