The Story

Before becoming one of the most admired underdog stories in European football, Chievo Verona spent much of their existence in the lower divisions of Italian football.

The 1996/97 season formed part of the club's remarkable climb through the Italian football pyramid. Just a few years later Chievo would earn promotion to Serie A and eventually shock Italian football by challenging near the top of the league against giants such as Juventus, Milan and Inter.

Federico Cossato was an important attacking player during this era and went on to become one of the club's most recognisable players of the late 1990s.
